The Victory of Good Over Evil
During October 2018, India celebrated the nine-nights long dancing festival called Navratri. It is the celebration of Goddess Amba (Durga) and everything that is powerful and feminine.
People around India dress up in traditional clothes and dance the nights away, often staying up as late as 4 or 5 AM. It is one eventful celebration -- mixed with a lot of religious flavour, worship, and of course, food.
The families staying in and around the SCIP Project also celebrated the Navratri festival in their own way. The streets are usually decorated and everyone dresses in their finest clothes.
On the 10th day Dusshera is celebrated because according to the Hindu mythology Goddess Durga killed the Demon Mahishahura. Thus peace, dharma, and sanctity of life were restored. It is the quintessential victory of good over evil.
For us mere mortals it is an everyday battle. To quote J.K. Rowling,
May the goodness in you always win. (And if today is that day, please consider contributing to Saving Children in Poverty, a Global Development Group Charity Project. Let’s ensure that everyone’s surrounded by light by opening doors to an educated future.)
